The Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre

Twice a year, we demonstrate at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) in Toronto. We demonstrate at their two major annual events:

1) In the Spring, at Haru Matsuri (Spring Festival) which is a two-day Japanese festival celebrating the coming of Spring, held on the first weekend of March.

2) In the Fall, at The Road to Asia Festival, a two-day festival celebrating the richness and diversity of Asian culture, held during the first weekend of November.

We invite you to come and enjoy our demonstrations there. Here are what some people have said about our demonstrations:

“The art of kenjutsu was beautifully demonstrated. The movements were simple, graceful, yet powerful. I enjoyed it immensely.”

“I attended your demonstration at the JCCC during the Haru Matsuri. I must say that I was very impressed at how informative and incredible that experience was! I think that your demonstration of kenjutsu was even more than a swordsmanship lesson to me. It was a life lesson! Thank you so very much, for such an awesome experience!”

Please take the opportunity to come talk to us after the demonstration and ask us any questions you may have about the arts we practice.

Finally, we would like to thank Ms. Christine Takasaki at the JCCC for allowing us the continued opportunity to showcase our arts to the community. It is truly a great honour.

“The cooperation and contribution of organizations such as Tokumeikan, are an essential part of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre’s Haru Matsuri (Spring Festival) and Road to Asia Festival martial arts demonstrations. Their support is part of the strength of the relationships that are developed through the JCCC’s motto of ‘Friendship through Culture.’”
